Not exactly gouging however a bit too expensive for what you get. What is the purpose of regular pricing for pre-season games.

For years now people and fans have been asking the same old question,

"Why should we pay regular season prices for preseason games in the NFL?"

"I feel absolutely abused by what transpires in the NFL at this time of year. The fact of the matter is, the league calls games in August … PRESEASON! Come on, get real, these are nothing more than scrimmages. They are exhibitions which have very little meaning.

To charge the public full price for tickets to these "games" is absolutely unethical. My friends, it is a joke! As a season ticket holder, to spend top dollar for these exhibitions truly offends me." DICK VITALE

Some believe that "It would be a novel concept for NFL owners, but why not cut ticket prices in half for pre-season [or exhibition games] and not require season ticket holders to buy them. Then the really good seats would be available to regular fan types and no one could complain about spending so much to watch a watered down team. Of course, the owners would give up some money, so this will never happen."

Here is a petition to lower NFL pre-season ticket prices and to be sent to the commishioner.

It states,

"The NFL is taking advantage of its loyal fans, by charging full price for tickets to preseason games. In most cases the starters only play for the first few possessions, before the back-ups take to the field for the remainder of the game. Ticket holders are forced to pay full price to watch players that have a slim chance of even making the team. Fans have complained about it for years in my town (Kansas City), but the team just responds that pricing of preseason games is league policy.

Most fans are more than willing to pay the even higher prices demanded for playoff tickets, so why aren’t the preseason tickets discounted? The play on the field is not at a high level in the preseason, so why should fans have to pay a premium price? If they are unwilling to lower the price, then fans shouldn’t be required to buy preseason tickets, as part of their season ticket package.

Please sign this petition to let the National Football League know that their fans are tired of being ripped off, by being forced to pay full price for tickets to preseason games."

The bottom line is Pre season games just are not worht the full cost of ticket prices. Pre-season should be used for familys of less fortune, donations, charitys and tax write offs.
