Charitable Sports Events - A sporting event specifically designed and performed to raise money and create awareness for a charitable cause and organization.  Sporting events are a good way to promote charitable causes because of the popular appeal around the world of sports.  Additionally, sports and many associated charitable causes share the promotion of health and wellness.

These events can be of two types.  The first type involves spectators attending an event to watch professional athletes or celebrities perform.  The Annual Frank Sinatra Celebrity Golf Tournament is an example of this type charitable sporting event.  The second type of charitable sporting event is more participatory in nature. The Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure would be an example of a participatory type of charitable sporting event.

Greg Henderson:What a great video...This really helps show the power that sports has in our society. Although I do not usually associate boxing with charity, this major fundraising event seemed to be a big success drawing some big names in the sports community. I was really impressed with the list of charities at the end of the video.
